Lil' SAINTS
After viewing "2501 Migrants" by Alejandro Santiago in Oaxaca, Mexico in January, 2012, I decided to do a series of saints.
"Lil' Saints" is a series of robed followers of Jesus Christ.  The Bible says we are saints through faith.

Each piece is independently sculpted, dried, glazed, and raku fired.  These pieces have gone through the fire 3 times.
The kiln is heated up to about 1800 degrees for the final raku firing.  The piece is taken out of the kiln when glowing red hot
and placed in a can with combustibles of sawdust and paper.  The materials are quickly set aflame and enhance the
work with a smoky, blackened appearance.
